The 11th Seiser Alm Half Marathon 2024 will once again be a charity run for a good cause.

This time we are supporting Free to Run - Empowerment through running. This organisation is committed to changing gender norms in conflict zones by supporting adolescent girls and young women to strengthen their leadership skills and well-being through running. Free to Run provides progressive leadership and wellbeing programmes linked to running experiences, particularly for refugees, internally displaced people and girls and women who identify as ethnic minorities.

The goal is systematic change in gender equality, with a focus on expanding access to public space and leadership opportunities for girls and women. In some of the world's most challenging regions, including Iraq and Afghanistan, Free to Run has been working since 2014 to make a positive difference in the lives of young women and girls in conflict zones. The sponsor of Free to Run in South Tyrol is the well-known extreme marathon runner Manfred Mussner, who writes about his experiences of running marathons in the world's most dangerous countries in his book "Der geheime Marathon" (“The secret marathon”).
